M*Modal Recognized as Finalist for Innovations in HealthcareSM Awards
Publish Date : 2/26/2008 4:56:00 AM   Source : Technology News Onlypunjab.com

M*Modal, creators of the industry’s most advanced speech understanding service, today announced its selection as one of three finalists in the “Innovations in Healthcare Information Technology” category for the ABBY Award presented by the Adaptive Business Leaders Organization (ABL).

The finalists, chosen from the largest number of nominees in the Award’s ten-year history, best met ABL’s criteria of both being innovative and having clinical and financial metrics that prove their technology or approach reduces the cost of providing quality healthcare in the U.S. marketplace.

M*Modal’s patented speech understanding services transform a clinician’s spoken dictation into a draft report, automatically structured and encoded according to the healthcare provider's documentation rules. Documents are generated in a semantically interoperable HL7 CDA format to allow for streamlined report sharing among practitioners, facilities, and systems.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for our contribution to transforming medical information technology” said Michael Finke, CEO of M*Modal. “The ability to share highly accurate, structured, encoded clinical documents improves the efficiency of healthcare providers, and better information drives improved patient care,” he added.

M*Modal is known for its on-demand conversational documentation service, AnyModal™ CDS. The technology combines speech recognition and natural language understanding to capture and comprehend clinical information from dictation, transforming it directly into accessible, retrievable and shareable electronic files. Its ease of deployment enables small institutions, as well as large hospitals, to gain the benefits of increased productivity and control through more accurate, more timely, and more-complete documents.

“Our technology allows the physician’s thought processes and decisions to be captured in a simple, intuitive way through their normal dictation routines. The narrative is then structured to combine text and encoded data which is easily interpreted and can be shared across multiple practitioners and institutions,” Finke explained. “Better information driven into the system results in increased productivity, lower costs and more effective patient care,” he concluded.

Award winners will be selected by the senior healthcare industry executives attending the Awards Event. Following presentations by each Finalist, the judges will vote via secret ballot.
