Fierce Winter Weather Extends Scariest Utility Bill Contest
Publish Date : 12/14/2007 8:04:00 AM Source : Software and ERP News Onlypunjab.com
Responding to recent news of rising energy prices and colder weather approaching, JELD-WEN Windows & Doors is extending its Scariest Utility Bill contest through January 1, 2008.
While many homeowners may be feeling spine chills and goosebumps after seeing their utility bills, one lucky homeowner will heat things up by winning new JELD-WEN® insulating windows and doors. To participate, homeowners can submit high utility bills online at www.jeld-wen.com. Any 2007 utility bill is eligible and complete contest rules are available online.
"Large energy bills can signal the need for home fixes that will help save energy this season and beyond," said Brian Hedlund, JELD-WEN product marketing manager. "New insulating windows and doors can make a dramatic difference. In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Energy, a typical homeowner installing ENERGY STAR qualified insulating windows can expect to realize savings ranging from $125 to $450 a year, depending on the region."
Recent research from the Energy Information Administration suggests that in the continental U.S., homeowners in New England and the mid-Atlantic regions may be more likely to have the scariest utility bills this year. On average, homeowners in New England pay an average of 16.7 cents per kilowatt-hour (kwh) for electricity, while ENERGY STAR homeowners in the mid-Atlantic pay an average of 13.48 cents per kwh. The average price for electricity throughout the country is 10.65 cents per kwh. Installing insulating windows and doors that are ENERGY STAR qualified can have a positive impact on a home's energy efficiency.
JELD-WEN offers a wide variety of ENERGY STAR products that can provide long-term savings on utility bills, including wood and vinyl windows and fiberglass exterior insulating doors.
To learn more about how homeowners can improve their energy efficiency or enter to win the JELD-WEN Scariest Utility Bill contest, visit www.jeld-wen.com.
