Dallas/IABC Luncheon, March 11, Features ''Speechwriting in 7 Simple Steps'' by Speech Expert Phil Johnson
Publish Date : 2/26/2008 4:57:00 AM Source : Technology News Onlypunjab.com
The Dallas International Association of Business Communicators (Dallas/IABC) is hosting a March 11 luncheon that features executive speech expert Phil Johnson on “The Seven Steps to Speechwriting Success.” The event is 11:30a to 1 p.m. at Popolos’ Café in Dallas. Online registration is available at www.dallasiabc.com. Pricing is $30 to $45 for the luncheon, depending on membership and pre-registration. Student pricing is $20.
“You know, it’s been said that ‘There are always three speeches for every one you actually gave--the one you practiced, the one you gave, and the one you wish you gave,” said Julie Songer, president of Dallas/IABC. “Phil Johnson is the kind of speechwriter and speech handler that makes sure the speech you prepared is the speech that is presented. And he simplifies that process.”
Phil Johnson is a Dallas executive speechwriter and business writer. For more than 20 years, Johnson has written speeches for executives at privately held and publicly held companies, from several Fortune 500 companies to small start-ups. He’s written for companies such as Eli Lilly & Co., Sandia National Laboratories, Deutsche Bank and Caterpillar. Johnson, an IABC member since 1997, has won three IABC Silver Quill and Bronze Quill awards, and two MarCom Creative Platinum Awards of Excellence. He earned his master’s degree in business administration from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. He received his bachelor’s degree in journalism and history from TCU as well.
Johnson’s “The Seven Steps to Speechwriting Success” will also feature insights into other hot areas of business writing. “There’s growing opportunity in executive ghostwriting, annual reports, magazine articles, white papers, case studies and Web content,” said Johnson. “All business-writing disciplines can benefit from the application of speechwriting techniques.”
Dallas/IABC (www.dallasiabc.com) is the professional communicator’s choice for practical education, information and professional development. The not-for-profit association serves more than 300 members in North Texas representing hundreds of corporations, agencies, entrepreneurs and not-for-profit organizations. |
