Entuity Helps Customers Manage Complicated Networks with Less Resources
Publish Date : 1/15/2008 8:04:00 AM Source : Software and ERP News Onlypunjab.com
Entuity™ today announced the compelling impact customers are experiencing with one of the three key enhancements areas to its Eye of the Storm® (EYE) software suite. First available in November 2007, EYE 2008 provides new modules and core enhancements that offer: improved administration and control, streamlined IT service delivery, and advanced integration and automation to power the business.
Addressing the first functional area, EYE 2008 includes enhancements designed to help IT organizations more effectively administer and control complex and distributed network environments. Since becoming available, Entuity customers have leveraged EYE 2008 to deliver greater value and return to their businesses.
“Wireless technology and the mobile devices used across our campus make our network more dynamic than ever,” said Craig Kleen, assistant director of network services at California State University Long Beach. “Knowing what devices are on the network and how they are connected is fundamental to protecting the campus from a malicious attack. The new progressive discovery functionality in EYE 2008 gives us increased visibility of our network along with a better way to handle classification of devices to improve our efficiency and overall network security.”
With the growing dependency businesses have on new technologies used in distributed environments, EYE 2008 delivers efficient scalability and administrative control of the latest operating environments and network technologies helping businesses keep their complex distributed environments optimally deployed and efficiently performing. EYE 2008 is ready as businesses move the latest hardware, service, network technology, or virtual environments into production.
Among EYE 2008’s new functionality for improved administration and control are:
- Progressive Discovery – This innovative functionality reduces the time and effort required to manage network inventory and assets, simplifies capacity planning processes, automates device management/un-management, and brings full management to desired devices. EYE discovers and categorizes all SNMP enabled devices on the network to automate delivering the desired range from generically to fully managed devices.
- VMware – EYE 2008 not only certifies VMware ESX Server as a supported platform for EYE, but an optional EYE VMware Module simplifies management and reduces operational costs of VMware ESX servers. EYE 2008 brings manageability to virtual environments enabling the scalability, deployment flexibility, and financial benefits of reducing physical server requirements in the data center.
- Advanced EYE Dashboards – EYE 2008 improves service management and service delivery – particularly in the multi-server EYE environments utilized by service providers with a new range of graphical dashboard displays. The new EYE dashboards deliver “at-a-glance” insight to the overall health of the network, saving time, enabling faster event resolution, and improving SLA compliance.
- Latency Measurement – New functionality in EYE 2008 gives service providers extensive flexibility and precise control over infrastructure operations by delivering device and server latency monitoring, event generation, and both real-time and performance trend reporting. With a broad range of easily configurable latency threshold events available per device, per server, or on a global basis, EYE offers the granularity of control necessary to ensure maximum return from critical business services.
Eye of the Storm 2008 runs on Microsoft Windows 2003, Sun Solaris, RedHat Linux, and VMware ESX environments. Entuity is also actively seeking channel partners globally who are looking to complement their current framework or elemental tools offerings with the scalable, easy-to-deploy EYE 2008 management suite.
