Denny’s and The Salvation Army Give Christmas Breakfasts to Families in Need
Publish Date : 12/18/2007 7:02:00 AM   Source : World News Onlypunjab.com

Dennys is partnering with The Salvation Army to observe the 30th anniversary of Dennys signature Grand Slam® breakfast and is donating gift cards to 30 Salvation Army units around the country to distribute to 30 families at each location.

People have depended on us to be open on Christmas Day for over 50 years, and we are honored to provide meals in a warm, welcoming atmosphere for our guests during the holiday season, said Nelson Marchioli, Chief Executive Officer and President of Dennys. We are pleased The Salvation Army is joining us for the Grand Slams 30th anniversary celebration by offering Christmas breakfast to those who need it most.

Denny's signature Grand Slam® breakfast was introduced in 1977 and is one of Dennys best selling items, delighting 7 million guests a year. In the 30 years since it was added to the menu, Dennys has served over 500 million Grand Slams to guests. As when it was introduced, the Grand Slam® continues to feature pancakes, eggs, bacon strips and sausage links two of each.

Christmas is a hard time for many families who are struggling to make ends meet, said George Hood, National Community Relations Secretary for The Salvation Army. We are grateful to work with Dennys to offer gift cards to 900 deserving families because we know every little bit counts.

For the second year in a row, Dennys was the only restaurant chain to host The Salvation Armys Angel Tree gift giving programs in its locations nationwide. The program allows Dennys customers and employees to select angel ornaments from in-restaurant Christmas Trees and purchase gifts of new clothing and toys for local children and families who might otherwise go without.

About The Salvation Army:

The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian church originally established in 1865, has been supporting those in need in His name without discrimination for 126 years in the United States. Over 31 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through the broadest array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. About 83 cents of every dollar raised is used to support those services in 5,000 communities nationwide. For more information, go to www.salvationarmyusa.org.
