Spirited Southern Author, Darlene Ford Wofford Returns to Atlanta Borders
Publish Date : 12/14/2007 4:09:00 AM Source : World News Onlypunjab.com
Atlanta's own Darlene Ford Wofford, author of "Edgewise: An Assignment to Remember," continues her book tour in a return visit to Atlanta's Parkway Pointe Borders. The spirited southern novelist will be discussing and signing her novel Saturday afternoon, December 15, 1-4:00 at Borders Bookstore in Parkway Pointe. The store is located at 3101 Cobb Parkway, Atlanta, Georgia 30339, (just south of Cumberland Mall), and their phone number is 770-612-0940.
The term "Edgewise" is used to describe the book's protagonist as a young Atlanta woman whose mind has shut down to block out back-to-back traumatic events, however other memories of her life are blocked, as well. Told through the eyes of the author's alter ego, "An Assignment to Remember" is not as much about the events as it is the inspiring story about triumph over tragedy, her healing progression and the prevailing strength of unconditional love. Based on true events in the her life, "An Assignment to Remember" is the first of three novels in the author's "Edgewise" series, with "Seven Years 'Til Sunrise," scheduled for release next year, followed by the third in 2009-10.
To quote Page One Lit literary newsletter, "Wofford is a wonderful writer whose personality and charisma is vivid in every word and sentence in her new book, 'Edgewise: An Assignment to Remember.' This is the most honest, heart-inspiring book of the year." The Midwest Book Review describes the novel as, "An inspired tribute to the strength of the human spirit, and of working through a process of recovery to overcome the wounds that life can inflict upon us without warning." Denna Shelton of Twenty Gems sums it up nicely in her review, "Edgewise took me on an emotional journey of laughter, sorrow and hope."
Both Darlene and Carl, her husband of 40-plus years are Atlanta natives currently residing in Acworth, Georgia. They have two sons, Kenneth and Cory. If the name Darlene Wofford sounds familiar it may be because she stays mighty busy in and around Atlanta and the northern suburbs. She was in the mortgage finance industry for 20 years, and now as a certified image consultant she owns Image Consulting Services and is the London Image Institute's Graduate Division Director. She is an officer for both the Marietta Chapter of Toastmasters International, and the Atlanta Chapter of the AICI (Association of Image Consultants International). Every Saturday morning in 2006 from 10-11:00 a.m., she co-hosted an hour-long Atlanta radio talk-show called "Your Inner Voice." She has also been interviewed recently regarding her novel on several Atlanta radio stations.
