Annual CityArts Celebration Presented by TXU Energy Returns to the Dallas Arts District on June 13-15
Publish Date : 1/29/2008 4:11:00 AM   Source : Entertainment News Onlypunjab.co

Patrons of the arts will want to mark their calendars now for the fifth annual CityArts Celebration, presented by TXU Energy, this coming June 13-15 on the streets of Dallas' downtown Arts District. This FREE festival showcases the incredible cultural, performing, visual and culinary arts of Dallas and the region.

During the CityArts weekend, the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center will join the neighboring Crow Collection of Asian Art to offer complimentary admission to visitors and locals alike. Festival-goers will be treated to spectacular exhibits and special programming in these world-class museums. Again this year TXU Energy is proud to support one of the top “Arts” districts in the country by presenting the 2008 CityArts Celebration.

“The arts festival enriches our community in so many ways, and that is why we are enthusiastic supporters once again,” TXU Energy CEO Jim Burke said. “TXU Energy’s commitment to this community extends beyond providing competitive prices and excellent service to supporting events like this that bring us together to experience world-class culture, arts and entertainment.”

A juried art show will feature oils, pastels, watercolors, jewelry, sculpture, photography and upscale crafts displayed by more than 100 artists, and local chefs will share delicious recipes with demonstrations, wine tastings and samplings. Five outdoor stages will feature dance, other cultural performances and contemporary music by Texas musicians, including jazz, country, swing, R&B and classical. In addition to these wonderful free offerings, there will be lots of food and drink available for purchase.

“Attendance has more than doubled each year at CityArts, and we expect that trend to continue as we continue to build on the number of performing, visual and culinary artists, stage performances, children’s and museum activities,” said Phillip Jones, president/CEO of the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau. “The museums are free throughout the weekend in the largest arts district in the nation with DART light rail delivery within a block of the activities. It’s a wonderful opportunity for family entertainment.”

The 2008 CityArts Celebration, presented by TXU Energy, will take place from 6-10 p.m. Friday, June 13; 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. Saturday, June 14; and 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday, June 15. On-going details and special hotel packages will be posted on the web site, www.DallasCityArts.com, or are available by calling 214-571-1376. This signature event is produced Dallas CityArts, Inc., and is a collaborative effort of the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau, the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, and the Dallas Arts District Alliance
