Fusepoint Managed Services, a leading provider of outsourced IT services and infrastructure, today announced it has been selected by DeepCove Labs, a payment processing application service provider, to fully manage and host the company's VMware environment.
With DeepCove's business now conducting over six million credit card transactions per year, the need to ensure compliance with payment card industry (PCI) security standards was crucial. Advanced virtualization technology, combined with a PCI compliant environment that includes complete documentation of security policies and procedures in the event of an anomaly, were essential. Sticking to its core business strength in application development, DeepCove chose to outsource its IT infrastructure to Fusepoint.
"We considered all of the requirements to build a facility that would enable us to meet the stringent Tier 1 PCI compliance standards, but quickly realized that the cost would be enormous," said Joerg Beekmann, Chief Technology Officer, DeepCove Labs. "Our goal was to seek a managed hosting provider in Canada that was Tier 1 PCI compliant, and Fusepoint was the only name on the list."
DeepCove Labs estimates that they have saved over $100,000 in initial capital outlay by selecting a service provider that is PCI compliant and able to encompass approximately 70 per cent of DeepCove's overall internal compliance check list with Fusepoint's Tier 1 Level Certification. PCI DSS is a data protection standard created by the payment card industry that aims to secure credit cardholder information wherever it resides. PCI DSS applies to organizations that store, process or transmit cardholder information, and outlines steps that merchants and service providers must take to achieve compliance.

Under the terms of the agreement Fusepoint will provide a fully managed VMware environment in which its certified technical support team will manage all elements of the environment, including the hardware, operating system, database management, VMware ESX, firewall security, bandwidth, data back-up, and end-to-end monitoring and reporting.
