Eagles Long Road Out of Eden Certified Triple Platinum
Publish Date : 12/13/2007 7:57:00 AM   Source : World News Onlypunjab.com

Long Road Out of Eden has been certified triple platinum by the RIAA, on its first day of eligibility. Released October 30th, the album debuted at number one on The Billboard 200 Chart, with sales of 711,000 units, and has already become the 5th best selling album of 2007. Additionally, with U.S. sales at two million, it is the biggest selling Country album of the year, according to Nielsen SoundScan. With Long Road Out of Eden, the Eagles are the only artist in music history to score a number one album more than 35 years after releasing their debut record.

Internationally, the album has sold in excess of 1.5 million albums and has topped the music charts in the UK, Australia, Greece, India, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and Norway. Long Road Out of Eden currently is #1 on Billboard’s European Top 100 Chart. Nine territories have already gone platinum (the UK and Australia are double-platinum) and fifteen more are gold.

In the Asia-Pacific Region, Long Road Out of Eden is the #1 bestseller for the 4th week, enjoying tremendous success on the Asian retail charts. In Hong Kong, India, and Malaysia the album has been #1 for four consecutive weeks, and has topped the retail charts in Singapore and Thailand four weeks in a row.

Long Road Out of Eden is being sold exclusively at Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Walmart.com, and Samsclub.com in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico and through the band’s Web site, http://eaglesband.com. The Deluxe Collector’s Edition of Long Road Out of Eden, wrapped in a red linen cloth, screen printed with panoramic imagery, features the holiday hit “Please Come Home For Christmas” and “Hole In The World,” and a 40-page booklet with lyrics, credits, exclusive photos and desert scenes from the making of the "How Long" video.

Long Road Out of Eden was released worldwide outside North America by Universal Music Group companies.

"Long Road Out of Eden has been a fantastic project for Wal-Mart," said Gary Severson, senior vice president, entertainment at Wal-Mart. "The album surpassed our expectations in sales from the very first week. In fact, in less than 40 days from its launch we were re-ordering new product, far earlier than planned, to make sure stores would have it available for Christmas."

"The international impact of Long Road Out of Eden has been nothing short of phenomenal, which is clear from its chart-topping positions around the globe," said Lucian Grainge, Chairman/CEO, Universal Music Group International. "We had hoped for this level of success, but the results are really proving that the Eagles' connection with consumers worldwide runs long and deep."

“How Long,” the first single from Long Road Out of Eden, has been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals. The Eagles – Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit – have been nominated for 35 Grammy Awards.

The Eagles have sold more than 120 million albums worldwide, earning five #1 U.S. singles and four Grammy Awards. Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 is the best-selling album of all time, exceeding sales of 29 million units. The band's Hotel California and Their Greatest Hits Volume 2 have sold more than 16 and 11 million albums respectively. Eagles were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998
