Carol Homon to Present Keynote Address at Lab Manager Boot Camp on October 25, 2007
Publish Date : 10/2/2007 1:14:00 AM   Source : Science and Technology News Onlypunjab.com

Vicon Publishing, Inc., today announced that Carol Homon has joined the roster of speakers for Lab Manager Boot Camp for Lab Manager Magazine®. Ms. Homon's presentation, Managing Innovation Science and Technology for Business Success, will be the Keynote Address and part of the line-up that addresses a wide range of topics relating to laboratory management.

Ms. Homon's presentation will focus on how one company used innovative science and automation to build higher throughput operations from literally nothing to a successful business operation. The success with establishing HTS led to the initiation of these valuable processes for drug discovery after HTS. By concentrating on good science first, the improvements resulted in solid business practices, including better data processing with higher quality control as well as higher quality data and better database information. Building a solid foundation first allowed the pieces of early drug discovery to come together as a whole. It took time, effort, and flexibility to establish this innovative approach, but today, the result is a fined-tuned operation.

Carol Homon recently retired after 25 years at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where she was the Director of Biomolecular Screening. She is recognized worldwide as an expert in high-throughput screening and has given many presentations and short courses at scientific meetings across North America and Europe. She has an extensive publication record and has been the recipient of numerous awards, including Boehringer Ingelheim's prestigious International R&D Award (2001), the R&D Magazine Award for the Top 100 Innovative Technologies in 1999, the ISLAR Award for Outstanding Achievements in Automation and Robotics, and is a two-time recipient of the SBS President's Award.

Lab Manager Boot Camp will be held on October 25, 2007 at the Massachusetts Medical Center in Waltham, Mass. The conference is a one-day program of presentation for science professionals to develop or expand upon management and administrative skills.
