Rezoom.com Presents $100,000 Check to Wounded Warrior Project as Part of A Better World Program
Publish Date : 2/18/2008 5:20:00 AM   Source : World News Onlypunjab.com

Wednesday, January 16th, was a banner day for Rezoom.com President, Gary Glover. It was the day he announced the winner of his web site's "A Better World" program to Rezoom.com members and the world. Earlier in the year, through a program sponsored by Rezoom.com, people across the nation were asked to tell stories about their favorite charities. The purpose was to recognize non-profit organizations that have made their communities A Better World. To this end, ReZoom.com promised to award $200,000 to 20 charities. As a result, over 5,000 charities and supporters responded and shared how their favorite nonprofit organizations had made a significant difference in their lives.

The Wounded Warrior Project wins A Better World award as the most inspirational charity in the nation. There were two finalists, the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) and The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, and the two were close. The former received $100,000 from Rezoom.com as the winner. John Melia of the Wounded Warrior Project accepted the award for the charity. The organization, located in Jacksonville, Florida, assists men and women of the armed forces who have been injured severely during conflicts in wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and other locations around the world. Started when Mr. Melia and several other individuals took small actions to help those in need, this group now provides support to soldiers during recovery with sports rehabilitation programs and strong peer relationships.

The Wounded Warriors Project is about serving those who serve us all. John Melia, Executive Director and Founder, of the Wounded Warrior Project has stated, "Our goal is to make sure each soldier comes home to open arms and hearts. And to help each one rebuild their dreams." The Wounded Warrior Project does more than help soldiers who have physical injuries. Efforts are also channeled to assist those heroes who have suffered "unseen" physical and mental injuries. WWP also takes their efforts out of the hospitals and into the halls of our Nation's government to enact legislation that will help provide necessary rehabilitative services after hospital stays are over. Mr. Glover noted key words in the winning essay that emotionally stirred the Rezoom.com staff. "They stated that they felt 'the greatest casualty is being forgotten' as a directive to the outstanding work they do for those who serve our country. It touched us all."

A Better World can be found at www.Rezoom.com. Rezoom.com is dedicated to those post World War II children who became activists, innovators, and revolutionaries - and still are to this day. Those who visit the site are called "ReZoomers" as their ideals and passion to improve, help, and create has continued. To this end, Rezoom.com has stated its mission in the form of a public edict called "The ReZoom Manifesto". The Manifesto is the spirit behind content created for Rezoomers with a passion for music, a desire to communicate on issues and ideals, and a need to network socially within their community.
