For nearly 30 years Barbeques Galore has operated its grilling-focused retail stores with the idea that anything that can be cooked indoors can be cooked outdoors. Now, the company plans to put its retail expertise to work in the classroom by opening its first Barbeques Galore Outdoor Cooking School. The school will be located within the company’s newest Barbeques Galore store at 10455 Reserve Dr., Suite 152 in the 4S Ranch community of San Diego.
“The Barbeques Galore Outdoor Cooking School is a natural next step for us,” said Jeffery Sears, Barbeques Galore CEO. “We’ve sold millions of grills and have taught countless backyard chefs the art of grilling. Now it’s time to formalize our grilling education process and offer added value to those who want to learn more about outdoor cooking.”
Barbeques Galore has tapped San Diego local Carissa Giacalone, a classically trained chef who competed on The Next Food Network’s Star, as the Outdoor Cooking School manager and instructor.
The new Barbeques Galore store at 4S Ranch will also feature a new range of products designed to enhance the cooking experience, whether indoors or out. These new products include a wide selection of high-quality Viking cookware such as stockpots, knives and saucepans as well as Viking blenders and food processors. The new Outdoor Cooking School will use state-of-the art equipment such as an outdoor oven, a Barbeques Galore Grand Turbo 6-burner grill, Viking 41-inch grill and Twin Eagle 30-inch grill both of which have infrared sear and rear burners and a rotisserie. The kitchen also includes outdoor cooking and entertaining accessories such as side burners, griddles, warming drawers, a beverage dispenser and refrigerator with icemaker.
The new store and Outdoor Cooking School will celebrate a grand opening on December 15 and 16 with demonstrations, cooking events and special offers throughout the two days. Joining Carissa for ongoing grilling demonstrations will be Chef John Henry from Texas. John Henry, founder of John Henry’s food products, has barbecued for presidents in Texas and in China.
The Barbeques Galore Outdoor Cooking School will offer a wide range of demonstration-style classes that emphasize flavorful dishes, menu planning from cocktails to desserts, entertaining tips, timesaving techniques and tools. The classes will change with the seasons and will include a variety of ethnic cuisines to inspire any backyard chef.
