The results of the 19th City of Venice International Backgammon Tournament had proved again that playing backgammon online certainly improves your backgammon skill. Two of the players who got to the final of the Double Davis European Backgammon Championship had earned their seat at the notable backgammon tournament after winning a qualifier in the backgammon website Play65 - Play65 Special Italy Tournament.
The 19th City of Venice International Backgammon Tournament, one of the most important backgammon events in the world, had ended on Sunday, December 2nd with the winning of the Slovenian backgammon champ, Damian Plesec.
The 4-days event, which took place at the luxurious Casino of Venice, was organized by World Backgammon Association and local backgammon organizations.
The Double "Davis" European Championship, the backgammon equivalent of the Tennis "Davis Cup" was one of the peaks in the Venice International Backgammon Tournament. The championship title was taken by Giuseppe Ricciardi and Piero Gallo, both from Rome, who've outplayed German Uli Koch and Michael Schmidt.
An interesting fact notes that halves of both winning couples - Giuseppe Ricciardi and Michael Schmidt - are part of the Play65 backgammon team. The Play65 representation at the City of Venice International Backgammon Tournament consisted of 4 online backgammon players who won in special qualifier tournaments that took place in the popular free backgammon site from mid October to mid November.
