Abaca Becomes a Supporting Member of Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group
Publish Date : 2/18/2008 9:23:00 AM   Source : Technology News Onlypunjab.com

Abaca Technology Corporation, an innovator in email protection and messaging security, announced today that it has joined the Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group (MAAWG) as a supporting member. MAAWG is a trade association that brings companies in the messaging industry together in order to combat spam, viruses, denial-of-service attacks and other online exploitation.

Abaca’s Email Protection Gateway™ is an industry-leading email security solution designed to address these same kinds of messaging abuse. Based on a patent-pending technology called ReceiverNet™, the Email Protection Gateway uses a sophisticated algorithm to block spam, viruses, phishing attacks, DoS attacks, directory harvest attacks and spoofing with 99% accuracy. Abaca’s breakthrough email filtering solution has proven so successful that the company offers customers a unique performance guarantee, the only one of its kind in the industry.

“Abaca’s approach to email and messaging security is not simply to reduce the amount of spam our customers are receiving, but to eliminate it completely,” said Leo Jolicoeur, chief executive officer of Abaca Technology Corporation. “By joining MAAWG, we can now join forces with leading Internet service providers and network operators and work together to find effective global solutions to a growing global problem.”

Abaca plans to actively participate in the trade association’s upcoming members-only meeting in San Francisco, California, on February 18–20. Past members-only meetings have focused on developing initiatives in three areas regarded as essential to resolving messaging abuse: collaboration, technology, and public policy (http://www.maawg.org/news/GeneralMeeting_Feb08/).

“We look forward to Abaca’s contributions in fighting messaging abuse, both at the meeting and going forward,” said Jerry Upton, executive director of MAAWG.

About the Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group (MAAWG)

The Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group (MAAWG) is where the messaging industry comes together to work against spam, viruses, denial-of-service attacks and other online exploitation. MAAWG (www.MAAWG.org) represents almost one billion mailboxes from some of the largest network operators worldwide. It is the only organization addressing messaging abuse holistically by systematically engaging all aspects of the problem, including technology, industry collaboration and public policy. MAAWG leverages the depth and experience of its global membership to tackle abuse on existing networks and new emerging services. Headquartered in San Francisco, Calif., MAAWG is an open forum driven by market needs and supported by major network operators and messaging providers.
