Grandparents.com Announces First Acquisition
Publish Date : 12/10/2007 6:01:00 AM   Source : American Local News Onlypunjab.com

Grandparents.com -- the premier online destination for a new generation of active grandparents -- today announced its first acquisition: online grandparenting resource GrandparentsMagazine.net.

Under the agreement, Grandparents.com will add an array of content from GrandparentsMagazine.net to its site and will add GrandparentsMagazine.net's 100,000 monthly visitors to its existing user base. GrandparentsMagazine.net founder Katrina Hayday Wester will join Grandparents.com and will offer additional grandparenting expertise to support the site's current arsenal of experts including former New York magazine writer Susan Avery and Boston Globe writer Beverly Beckham.

The acquisition helps cement Grandparents.com's position as the top resource for today's active grandparents. A recent survey from Grandparents.com and Focalyst, a leading Boomer and Mature consumer research company, demonstrated that grandparents today use the Internet more than any other source -- including friends and family, magazines or TV -- for grandparenting information.*

Half of grandparents spend ten or more hours per week online and actively engage in at least three different online activities. They buy products (69%), comparison shop (83%), click on ads (38%), share photos (67%), and more. The tremendous buying power and Internet savvy of this generation of grandparents has created a need for an all-inclusive resource to facilitate purchase decisions, activities and investments.

"This acquisition marks another step cementing our foothold in the grandparenting space," said Grandparents.com CEO, Jerry Shereshewsky. "By joining forces with GrandparentsMagazine.net we are building our domain, and plan to continue expanding as the go-to online destination for modern, active grandparents."

"I am thrilled to join a team that shares my passion for providing an informative, fun and engaging place on the Internet for modern grandparents," said Katrina Hayday Wester.

More than 70 million strong, grandparents residing in the U.S. have a comprehensive resource to help strengthen the grandparent-grandchild bond in Grandparents.com. "Today's generation of grandparents is changing what it means to be a grandparent," continued Shereshewsky. "We've noticed that many sites don't treat this audience as the tech-savvy and powerful group that it is -- Grandparents.com is taking the steps to give this group the voice that it deserves."

Grandparents.com also has plans to expand multiple parts of the site and launch several new applications in the coming months.
