A High Court judge lifted an injunction obtained by Mr Campbell, which banned the singer from releasing the record.

The Everton striker had signed Morrison to his label 2 Wikid, but went to court when he found out he was planning to release the album through another firm.

Morrison has not had a top 20 hit since 1998, when he spent time in jail.

He rose to fame in 1996 with Return of the Mack, but the Leicester singer has struggled to repeat its success following his spells in jail.

One was for hiring a stand-in to complete his community service for possession of a stun gun and another followed a Derby nightclub fracas.

Morrison said he was pleased with the decision.

"The album will now be available to all," he said.

But Mr Campbell said he would fight on, threatening to sue for breach of copyright if the album, Innocent Man, appears in shops.

The injunction stopped Morrison, record label Mona and distribution firm Jet Star from releasing the album.

'No loyalty'

Mr Campbell said he had spent hundreds of thousands of pounds recording and promoting the album.

"Mark Morrison was given everything he asked for by 2 Wikid but it seems that he couldn't help but return to his old ways," he said.

"Ever since I was a little boy I've had two passions - football and music. I've worked hard to realise my ambition in football but had hoped that my future career would be in the music business.

"I have always dreamt of starting a record label but now Mark Morrison has spoilt that dream for me. There is no loyalty in this business - just greed."
