A Pakistani team Friday visited M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, which will host a Test in the upcoming series, and met the police commissioner here as part of its venue assessment tour of the country.
The two-member team is in India to assess the venues for Pakistan's 45-day tour of the country beginning Feb 25. The tour, the first since 1999, comprises three Tests and five one-day internationals besides two warm-up matches.
Zakir Khan, the general manager (cricket operations) of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), said he and his colleague Sohail Khan, a police officer from Lahore, visited the ground including the dressing room and practice facilities, besides the hotel where the team would stay.
"We saw the stadium and other facilities. We also met the police commissioner," Khan told IANS.
"The hotel was good, but I cannot comment on other things because I have to give my report to the board," said the former Pakistani Test speedster.
The recce team has so far visited Mohali, a Test venue, Vishakapatnam, where a one-dayer will be played, and met officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in Kolkata Thursday.
"We will now visit Ahmedabad tomorrow and Kanpur the day after," said Khan.
The visits to Ahmedabad, Kanpur, Bangalore and Vishakapatnam were not included in the original itinerary of the Pakistani recce team.
It is learnt that there was some disagreement between the PCB and BCCI over the itinerary, but it was sorted out after the visiting officials met BCCI officials in Kolkata and these venues were included in their schedule.
Khan said he could not pinpoint when the final itinerary would be announced.
"I will send a report to the PCB after visiting Kanpur. I will either fax it or e-mail it," he said.
Mohali, Bangalore and Ahmedabad are to host the Tests while New Delhi, Kanpur, Vishakapatnam, Kochi and Jamshedpur will stage the one-day internationals.
The last time Pakistan played a Test series in India was in February-March 1999, after which relations between the two countries deteriorated and no bilateral series took place - until India's historic tour of Pakistan last year.
The two countries, however, met at various multi-nation tournaments in between.
